Details:

This is a well established hotel/resort that has been around for a long time, just ask the staff some of whom have been there for around 15 years or more, that being said even though it is an older hotel, it does not look tired or run down and is by far and away my favourite place to stay when I come to Bali, not trip would be complete with out a stay at Vila Lumbung!

Superior Room

I stayed in just about every room category, from the leading in deluxe room to the suite lower lumbung with the outside bathroom. While all room types are lovely I would recommend paying roughly the extra $50AUD and upgrading to the suite. That being said, you can be assured that the lead in deluxe room is still lovely.

Breakfast is always included in the rate, which is something I love, there is nothing more annoying than having to get up and hunt down breakfast, and even though I would describe this place as "cheap" as far as room rates go, the breakfast is amazing. Not just pastries, but a wide variety of cooked options, which changes daily.

The food at Vila Lumbung in general is on another level, I've had the best meal of my life at this hotel. The Australian Rack of Lamb, trust me its a winner. The chilli pasta and oh my god don't even get me started on the deserts, and again, the price? Very reasonable.

The other amenities are also reasonable, including the spa which is clean and the therapists are friendly, there are a number of cheaper establishments nearby, but you do really sacrifice of quality and you can be pretty sure the girl giving you a pedicure is gossiping to her mates about you while

giving you your pedicure. Just pay the little bit extra and have your treatment in the comfort and luxury of the hotel, where the staff are professional...and we are still on talking about $15AUD for a 1 hour massage. (approx)

There is s swim up bar and the cocktails are cheap, at one point mum and I bought four martinis for $14AUD just to try them all! They were good martini's too. It's really nice to be able to sit and have a drink and not worry about how much its burning a hole in your pocket, which is usually the reason most Australians choose a holiday to Bali over holidaying at home.

The staff are always friendly and happy to help you organise day trips or taxis. The best thing you can do is do a little bit of

research yourself and get them to set you up with a private driver for the day, which usually goes for between $60-$80AUD depending on where you want to go. If there is more than one of you, its much cheaper than going on a tour (this is the price for the car not per person) and you won't have to share your experience with hundreds of bogans.

The only small thing that lets this place down is the wifi, which is free (something that is s a pet hate when hotels charge for wifi) but pretty shocking. Its run by a third party, so every time you want to go online you have to keep reconnecting and the actual connection is terrible. Not a big deal for me, but to some people it is.

The also do mosquito fogging, which is great because the grounds are immaculate

and have a lot of water features which of course encourages mosquitoes to breed. They always notify when this is going to happen and have other devices in the rooms to prevent you from getting bitten, which is something I do really appreciate.
